Integrated 2--- Week of October 3-7

Monday, 10/3
We started by recalling previous knowledge about quadrilaterals, specifically:
parallelograms
rhombuses
rectangles
squares
trapezoids
kites
From memory only, students graphed the vertices of a quadrilateral, named the quadrilateral and defended their answer.  Most found this difficult to do as they did not use mathematical vocabulatry like slope, length, distance, angles and sides.  Tomorrow we will define each quadrilateral in the context of our mathematical vocabulary.
Homework #8:  Do Monday's problems.

Tuesday, 10/4
Big Idea - properties of parallelograms & other quadrilaterals
BE SURE TO COPY THE NOTES IN YOUR TOOLKIT WHEN YOU RETURN!
Homework: Do Tuesday's problems

Wednesday, 10/5
Numeracy Concepts:
1. Finding Slope
2. Using Pythagorean Theorem to find missing sides of triangles
Worksheets linked above - Do just the first page of each worksheet
Homework:  Do Wednesday's problems

Thursday, 10/6
Warm-Up (see ppt.)
   *SLIDE 1: only a and b have a length of 1.  use a^2 + b^2 = c^2 to find c.
*SLIDE 2: CD = squareroot of 13 or approximately 3.7
Use math to justify your answer to the quadrilateral from Monday...  you must talk about lengths and/or slopes of the sides of Quadrilateral ABCD.
Homework:  Do Thursday's problems

Friday, 10/7
Given slopes and lengths, name the quadrilateral (class activity)
Homework #8 due today.
