Warm-Up: Defiinition... "Equivalent Expressions/Equations"
Equivalent Expression/Equations have the same value for every value of x
Class Discussion...Brainstorm multiple "strategies" to create equivalent expressions
1. Distribute (both forward & backward)
ex: 2(x + 5) = (x + 5)2 = 2x + 10
2. Rearrange (+/x)
ex: a + b = b + a
2(x + 5) = (x + 5)2
3. Combine Like Terms
ex: 2x + 3x = 5x
NOT: 2x + 3x^2 (can't combine) (note: 3x^2 means 3x squared)
4. Factor (reverse distribution)
5x + 2x = x(5 + 2)

Homework #24: page 191-192 On Your Own
HOMEWORK HINTS:
•Part c. Income = price per pair of shoes x number of (pairs of) shoes sold. Income does NOT include cost!
•Part e. Use the profit equation in part a and the sales equation in part c.
