Monday, October 10 - No School (Teacher Work Day)
Tuesday, October 11
Today we reviewed a little bit about kites - how would we know from looking at slopes and lengths if a quadrilateral is a kite or not.
Activity: Sort the Graphs, Tables, Descriptions and Diagrams into 6 groups...
- parallelogram
- rectangle
- sqare
- rhombus
- trapezoid
- kite
Homework #9: Do Monday's problems.
Wednesday, October 12 - No School... Testing Day for all students
Thursday, October 13 -
Big Idea: What do perpendicular slopes look like?
Students measured slopes, determined if they were perpendicular segments or not, and then posted results.
CONCLUSION:
Parallel slopes have EQUAL VALUES
examples: 2 & 2,
2/4 and 1/2,
5/8 & 15/24, etc.
Perpendicular slopes are OPPOSITE RECIPROCALS
(kid language: one is positive, one is negative AND the fractional slope is "flip-flopped") ----
examples: 2/3 & -3/2
3 & -1/3
-3/4 & 8/6
Homework: Complete Thursday's problems on HW#9 WS
Friday, October 14
Practice Activity on Slopes --- if you were absent, you'll have to get your class "data" and the worksheet when you return.
